President’s message –

A Message from the President

With each new year, with each successive conference, the CCW sets a higher standard of content and venue that makes for a hard act to follow. The Portland conference was one of my favorites; from the epic skiing at Mt. Hood to beautiful setting of the Skamania Lodge, and lest I forget the excellent information and priceless conversations; Hats off to Tim and Don for putting together such a great experience.

I must add that the first year without Rege Flaherty seemed a scary venture. Who in their right mind would want this job and more importantly, who could do it as well as Rege? Well the answer to the first question was answered quickly; Don Sylva (without the right mind part). But Don has proven to be an excellent choice; he picked the ball up and just kept right on going without a hitch. Thanks Don for all of your hard work and attention to the Conference.

Now brace yourself for the CCW Conference in Anaheim April 2008, the theme: “Imagineering Your Potential” Your humble, disorganized and ADD plagued President is trying to put together something worthy of the CCW. I’m a bit behind schedule but I can tell you that it’s at the Sheraton Anaheim Park Hotel across from Disneyland, April 13th through the 17th: I know because I checked. Plan to come early or stay late and enjoy the destinations.

With Golf on Tuesday as usual, I’m hoping to organize another tennis outing Tuesday afternoon so those who play, bring your rackets. We are tentatively planning to tour the historic Old Mission San Juan Capistrano on Thursday (Mass in the old Serra Chapel then lunch), see the awesome new Retablo at the Basilica San Juan Capistrano and take an audio tour, followed by a visit to Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach which is currently under going $8 M in renovations and a new $4 M Garden Mausoleum (call Tom Woodworth at Carrier to make sure it’s done in time to show off). Surf attire required.

Thanks again to Don for a great job, the rest of the Board for their involvement and all of our vendors for their support. See you in Anaheim!
